Church by the Lake
On August 16, Pastor Rob Orth will bring his church members down to the Church By the Lake to offer them a BBQ. Steve Lewis is looking for volunteers to go with them and bring salads.
Please talk to Steve if you'd like to be part of this outreach in August.
Go Dodgers!
The game has been selected. It will be the Dodgers v. Padres on Saturday, September 16 at 7:20 p.m. The tickets will be $15 and we'll try to get seats above the press box behind home plate or up the first base line as close to the press area as possible.
If you want tickets-you will need to let Dave Carter know immediately. And you will need to get the $15 per ticket to him as soon as possible. He plans to order tickets the first week in August.
Kids Korner
by Amber George
We are well into summer and feeling the heat. So, the kids and I have been trying to find ways to beat the heat. We have already been to the movies to see Pirates Of the Caribbean, which the kids thought was awesome. We also had just about as many adults as children who wanted to see Pirates as well. Everyone had a great time.
Our next event is a trip to the Santa Monica Pier on August 9th from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m. We are all looking forward to the nice beach weather... oh yeah... and the rollercoaster and cotton candy. I do need advance notice on who can attend so we can get discounted tickets. If you are not sure you can attend until that day you can join us and pay regular ticket price.
On August 23rd we will be taking a trip up to Golf n' Stuff in Ventura from 11 a.m.- 3 p.m. We will grab lunch and enjoy some golf and bumper cars.
The children's ministry will also be joining up with the youth ministry to sponsor a community car wash on August 19th. We will need everyone's help to make this a success. We hope to see you there.

PS Help is still needed in the preschool — one Sunday per month. Please see me. |
No Studies
Please note that there will be no mid-week studies August 30 through September 6. This will allow the staff time to plan the fall and winter schedules.
All classes will resume again the week of our Fall Kickoff - September 10 (Wednesday, September 13th).
If you have any questions, please talk to your study leaders (youth, kids and adults).
Adult Studies
The new study for Wednesday nights is studying the book of Ephesians. You are welcome and encouraged to attend. So far there are around 10 people committed to attending. The class is led by Pastor Dave Crouse from 7:00-8:15 p.m. each Wednesday.
Don't forget Sunday mornings in the Social Hall at 9:00 a.m. This adult class will begin the book of Galatians mid-August. See Randy Olson for more details.
You are invited!!
Youth News
Hey All,
I hope you are having a great summer and staying cool in this crazy heat we are having. We have had some awesome things going on this summer.
We just finished up with Aquamageddon on July 26th. We had a great turn out: 10 Jr. Highers were there, 5 of which were visitors, that’s awesome! We had tons of fun eating pizza and launching water balloons at each other.
We also had a fun time on our hike up Solstice Canyon. We got to play in a waterfall and enjoy the shade during the hottest day of the year!
Wednesday nights are going great — we are averaging about 8 kids a week, which is really good for summertime, being that we have some people on vacation.
And on Tuesday nights we have started the new High School/College/Young Professionals Bible Study, called The Movement Project. We have been having a great turnout. The second week we had it, we had 9 people there, it was a great time of getting into God’s word.
Exciting things are happening, keep your ears open for more events!!!!!!
Blessings, Ryan
