Kids Korner
by Amber George
April is over and Easter has passed which means now I can relax and just hang out with the kids. So, on Saturday, May 26 we will be going to see Shrek the Third and going out for lunch. The cost will be $10 for tickets and food. Let me know if the kids will be available for that date. The kids are more than welcome to invite friends. Feel free to join us if you like (even adults like Shrek).
There are some great Sunday School lessons coming up.
- May 6: Made By God,
- May 13: Choices, Choices,
- May 20: Angry, Angry, I Am Mad and
- May 27: Caring for God’s World. And, with Mother’s Day coming up in the next few weeks the kids will be preparing their special gifts for their moms.
On Wednesday nights Miss Pat and Miss Kitty have been doing a great job taking over while I have been helping the youth group. Both Miss Kitty and Miss Pat will continue teaching on Wednesdays in May. The kids will be choosing more people from the Bible to learn about and Miss Kitty will be teaching more art lessons.
With summer soon approaching we'll take a vote on what summer activities they would like to do while they are out of school. In the past the kids have gone to Santa Monica Pier, the Aquarium of the Pacific, Golf n’ Stuff, bowling and lots of other places. They can vote for old favorites or pick some new destinations. It should be a great summer.
.ORG is now .COM
This is a minor technicality. We are trying to keep our website and emails as “user-friendly” as possible, so we are changing our www.cchagoura.org to www.cchagoura.com. The same will hold true for our email addresses. dave@cchagoura.org is now dave@cchagoura.com. The good news is that you can use either address and it will get to whichever staff person you are trying to reach and to the website. This will be a phasing in program for the future.

Youth News
By Amber George
Well, I have finished my first full month as the interim youth pastor and I am having a great time. We have already done so much. We have totally redone the youth room and I think it looks great. The kids have told me they like it a lot too. We have also had our first youth event. More than 10 kids came to the pizza party and to play laser tag in Camarillo. That was a lot of fun. And, we have even more great stuff planned for the month of May.
We now have a new addition to the youth room… a brand new PING PONG TABLE. After a little begging from the kids, we have decided to get a ping pong table, which I know will get some very good use.
And, speaking of begging… after listening to the kids for the last month we have finally planned our next lock-in on May 18th-19th. Details to follow so mark your calendars.
Also, information has already started to go out for summer camp at Angeles Crest Christian Camp. The dates for the JH/HS combo camp are July 8th-13th and the cost is $265. I can’t stress enough what a great experience this is for youth. I went there myself for many years and it is a great opportunity to grow in faith and closer to God. There are brochures in the youth room with more information and me. Please let me know by Sunday, May 27th if your child plans on attending camp.
Remember to pray…
This year the annual National Day of Prayer will be on Thursday, May 3. We are suggesting two possible places for you to pray for the nation on that day…
1st - Noon at the Civic Arts Plaza front lawn, free event put on by the local church pastors. Chris Miuccio will be leading one group in prayer… why not seek him out and join his group at that time in the service?
2nd - YMCA Prayer Event , $15, at the Westlake Hyatt, Continental Breakfast at 6:30, program from 6:50—8:30 with many guest speakers and prayer by local clergy. Tickets needed.
