Gift Package for Scott Olson in Iraq — Scott enjoyed the box we sent him during his last deployment (which he shared with his buddies) and he will be there for another few months. Let’s send him another care box. We’ll mail it November 30. So please bring items in throughout November. A list of allowed items is on page 3.

Santa Comes to Agoura —this annual food drive feeds over 150 local people with food donated by many different sources. They could use:

Non-perishable food items (canned or boxed) and grocery store scrip; volunteers to help distribute the food on Saturday, December 1st, 9:00 at the Do It Center.

We’ll be a collection drop-off during the month of November—a box will be in the lobby.

Angel Tree Gifts — This is an opportunity to purchase Christmas gifts for under-privileged children in the area through Big Brother/Big Sister. We have asked for 25 names and wish lists. These will be available in the next few weeks in the church lobby. Gifts are due by December 9th.

Encouraging Words

by Pastor Dave

Passion …it’s a small word but has tremendous depth and power to it. Webster’s dictionary defines passion as…” an emotion that is deeply stirring.” Have you ever been passionate about something? When you’re passionate about something it becomes first in priority and consumes your thoughts and ideas.

A few years ago, there was the movie by Mel Gibson entitled “The Passion”. It told the story of the passion of the Christ. It detailed the account of the suffering and crucifixion of Jesus. Just as the passion “of” the Christ is important, so is the passion “for” Christ!

Jesus had another phrase for passion – he called it…” first love ”. Jesus had the apostle John write the following to the church in Ephesus… “ Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love.” (Revelation 2:4) Jesus is telling the church in Ephesus that they had lost their passion – their deep stirring emotion – for Jesus.

Let me ask you a question …”How great is your passion for Jesus?” My prayer for each Christian, and for each person who attends Christian Church of the Hills, is that your “passion” for Jesus might grow. That you would have “ an emotion about Jesus that is deeply stirring ”!

As we seek to “make a difference” in our community, the difference we make will be in proportion to our “passion” for Jesus!

All-Church Thanks-giving Dinner

Sunday, November 18th at 4:00 p.m.

A tradition since 1992

CCH’s annual dinner brings family and friends together for a traditional homemade turkey dinner (and ham), fantastic side dishes and wonderful desserts! You want to be part of this enjoyable feast. And unlike the dinner, the program will be light. Enjoy special music, brief message and a time of thanksgiving! Sign ups will begin November 4th—sign up to bring part of the meal and to help setup or cleanup.

Westlake Community Christian Church will join together with us again this year.

Sign ups for coming, for helping, and for bringing a part of the meal is in the church lobby. Invite a friend and plan to be part of the day.

Bring a can or box of food for Santa Comes to Agoura.
