Encouraging Words

by Pastor Dave

Christmas Greetings!!

As it does every year, the Christmas season brings a special feeling of joy as we celebrate and commemorate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. I love all of the festivities that surround this season especially the decorations of Christmas. I love seeing the Christmas trees brightly decorated and all of the houses trimmed with Christmas lights. It’s a special feeling that only happens at this time of year.

This year, during the Christmas season, we’ve been careful not to put too much into the church schedule giving you a chance to greater enjoy this wonderful time of the year. We are continuing with our “Go Make a Difference” theme by giving you the opportunity to serve individuals during the Christmas season by participating in the following community projects…Santa Comes to Agoura, Project Angel Tree, Free Gift Wrapping @ the Promenade and Christmas Caroling at the Senior Center. We encourage you to “Go M.A.D.” by joining any one of these outreach projects.

Our hope is that you yourself will be encouraged through the Christmas worship services and that you will be an encouragement to others by serving them and helping to meet their needs. May God fill you with joy, wonder and peace as you celebrate the birth of God’s Son!

I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior ahs been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.

Luke 2:10-11

Merry Christmas, Pastor Dave

From the Intern

2007 was a great year for CCH and it's all due to YOU, our beloved congregation. From our Church in the Park event to all of the recent "Go M.A.D." outreaches, YOU have all risen to the occasion to volunteer your gifts and talents.  True, there have been some trials and hard times, but equally there have been praises and joyful times where it was clear the Lord's influence was strong!

It is a busy, complex world out there and I realize you all have demands placed on you by the world outside the walls of CCH. I also know there is not a lot of free time for many to even get to Church on Sundays, let alone special events. Still, I want to make sure it is known that this building is your refuge EVERYDAY, NOT JUST ON SUNDAYS. Come in whenever you want and just sit in front of the cross and have some quiet time with the Lord, away from the craziness. If you want, I would be honored to pray for you WHENEVER you come in. Let's get a simple cup of coffee and seek the Lord's wisdom together.

I would like to ask a favor of you.  Please continue to lift up the future of our Church and pray that the Lord will guide the leadership in His ways and in His time. If we are faithful, He will open the doors that need to be opened, close the doors that need to be closed, and provide the light for us to follow Him. I know this first hand because He has taken me from a life that was semi-focused on Him to a life that is focused almost solely on Him. I am far from perfect and, like everyone, struggle with my sin nature, but I can tell you I have never wanted to serve Him more than I  have this year once I surrendered to His will.

I am always optimistic about the future of our church and believe 2008 will be an even greater year than 2007! Let's join together and let Him use us, FULLY, for His glory!

Luke 11: 9-10  "So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

Amen! Chris
