You are invited

to the first bilingual service ever held at Christian Church of the Hills.

In an effort to Go M.A.D. (Go Make a Difference) in our community in 2008, on January 6th, at 10:00 a.m., we will have our message preached in English AND immediately translated into Spanish by Pastor Hector Cedillo (from Church By The Lake).

There will be classes for the children during the service.

We will have light refreshments afterwards.

We’d like to find out how we can best provide God’s word for you in English or in Spanish. The goal is to see what needs there are in our community that we may be able to meet in the future.

We encourage you to invite any Spanish speaking friends or neighbors you may have.

Join us for Lunch

at the Angel Café

SUNDAY, January 13th right after church… we’ll meet up for lunch at Angel Café on Thousand Oaks Blvd. and Kanan Rd. (in the Vons shopping center). Everyone is welcome—your lunch will cost around $10 depending on what you order (they have great family specials as well).

We welcome ideas for other restaurants for our quarterly lunches.

Encouraging Words

by Pastor Dave

Happy New Year!

I hope you are all still feeling the joy of the Christmas season as well as the excitement that comes with the New Year. Each year brings its own surprises, disappointments, and struggles, as well as its various moments of joy and happiness. We never know exactly what will the year will bring us or what will happen as the days unfold. However, one thing we can count on is that our Heavenly Father will be with us through it all. He will never leave you or forsake you and He is working in your life to bring meaningfulness and to help you to grow into a mature, faith-filled Christian! I hope this year will be the most spiritually productive yet for you!!

In the month of January, I will be starting a sermon series entitled, “The Hope of Heaven”. In this series we’ll explore what the Bible says about Heaven and what kind of a place it will be and what kind of existence we’ll have after we leave this earth. We’ll get rid of some misconceptions about Heaven and share the truths that God has given us about our final destination. I believe after studying the subject of Heaven, you will be filled with a greater excitement about your faith and that God will fill you with a new joy about the “living hope” that is waiting for all those who follow Jesus Christ!

May God bless you and keep you as you follow Him with all your heart!

Family Dinner & Game Night

Saturday, January 19th

We’ll have dinner at 5:30 p.m. here at CCH in the worship center. You’ll have lots of opportunities to play games all evening and many other fun activities will be organized for people of all ages!

Dinner will be kept simple: pizza, salad, bread, desserts. The cost will be $5 each/kids 5 and under are $3.

Please sign up at CCH so we know how much food to have ready. Help is welcome— there is a column for this on the signup sheet.

Pins and Needles

Do you like to knit, sew or crochet? Do you want to learn how?

We are creating a new group that will begin by meeting once-a-month on a Thursday night. The first meeting will be January 24th at 7:00 p.m. here at CCH!!

Let’s get together over coffee and dessert and discuss what projects we might be able to make that we can donate to an organization that reaches out to people.

Ideas suggested so far are: baby blankets for Women’s Resource Center or Battered Women’s Home; caps and scarves for the soldiers in Iraq; or soft caps for cancer patients.

EVERYONE IS WELCOME — bring your ideas and if you want to, your hooks, needles and yarn.

Men’s Breakfast

Saturday, January 26th at 8:30 a.m.

The men will enjoy another famous full-course hot breakfast right here at CCH.

Worship songs and a guest speaker will enhance the morning. The cost is $5 each.

Please sign up in the lobby and let us know who is willing to help cook as well.

Dear CCH Family,

The entire staff here at Christian Church of the Hills would like to thank you so much for your rich generosity that was shown to us through the giving of our year end financial gifts. Not only are they a great help to each one of us personally, but they are a reminder to us of how special it is to serve this church family. Thank you for your gift of love to us and we look forward to serving and leading you as we head into the New Year!

Again, we appreciate your love and support!!

Your staff, Dave, Chris, Lori, Amber, Brett and Duane
