From the Pastor

By Dave Crouse

Greetings!

First of all, let me commend each of you for you faithfulness to this church. In February the leadership came to the congregation letting them know that in order to keep this ministry going strong we needed to increase our financial giving. The result has been that in the past two months we have been able to meet our financial needs and put a small amount back to replenish our savings. Thank you for being so faithful!!

Secondly, I want to encourage each of you to make sure you attend our upcoming “Church in the Park” event. On Sunday, June 22nd, at 11:00 a.m. we will be taking our church out into the community by having our worship at Mae Boyar Park in Oak Park. This will help us to keep looking outward toward our community and will also be a fun event for our entire congregation. I hope you’ll make every effort to be there and to invite your friends and neighbors to a great day in the park!!

At theChurch in the Park event I will also be starting a new summer sermon series as we study the book of

1 Peter. It’s a fabulous letter written by the apostle Peter to the church. It is called a “general epistle” in that it is not written to a specific church or group, but instead it was written as a general letter to be shared with the churches that were being established throughout the Christian world.

The main theme of this letter is“How to Keep the Faith through Tough Times!” The reason that Peter wrote this letter was to encourage fellow believers who were suffering. Peter recognized that many of the believers throughout the church had become discouraged so he wrote this letter of encouragement. It is a fabulous letter that will strengthen us, teach us and challenge us in our Christian walk.

That’s it for now…keep walking with Jesus and I’ll see you on Sunday!!

In His Love, Pastor Dave

Elder News

Happy June from the Elders to our congregation!

The Church in the Park event will be a highlight of the summer; and the faithful CCH staff has been busy planning other summer events as well, including ideas for the Fall Kick Off.

We'd like to congratulate Reign Lewis and Jessica Licht as our graduating class of 2008. We will pray and encourage them on Father's Day (June 15th) during our Dads and Grads service.

This month we are sad to say farewell to the Prieger family—you will be missed! Jim has accepted a teaching position for one year in Washington DC, but they will be back! Jim will continue as an "Elder-from-a-distance". We will miss Melanie's fantastic piano playing, as well as Jenna and Alex in our Children's Group. Their last Sunday with us will be June 15 th , and even though it is Father's Day, we will have a brief time after the service to say goodbye to them with light refreshments in the Social Hall.

The Elders have been busy working on strategies to improve all facets of CCH ! We have been meeting twice a month as of late in order to insure things are running smoothly.. .and we are happy to report they are!

We are also happy to report that in spite of the rising price of gas these days, our financial state has vastly improved since our meetings in January. The summer vacation months are here, and are traditionally times of low attendance. As a result, our weekly offering suffers. Please remember CCH in the summer months even when you are unable to attend the service.

May you have a blessed summer!

Chris Miuccio, on behalf of Your Elder board, Randy Olson, Chairman; Dave Leese, Vice Chairman; Adam George, Secretary; Jerry Olson; Doug Schafer; Dave Barrett; Jim Prieger; and Pastor Dave Crouse

Talk to Duane (or Chris) if you have questions.

Worship Slide Volunteer

needed once a month. We are flexible with the schedule (working around everyone’s many commitments). But with the Prieger’s moving away for a year and scouting events, the volunteer pool is getting slim. If you have any computer experience, it’s an easy program to learn! Let Lori know, please.
