August at CCH

Happy SUMMER to you. Things are less busy in the summer here at CCH so we thought we’d send you a Newsletter Brief instead of a full newsletter. The Game Night scheduled for August 2nd has been postponed to September 20th due to the many vacations going on this month! The following are some other highlights you may wish to make note of.

Backpacks for kids

We have 20 backpacks and school supplies! Thank you one and all. On August 17th we will have a Backpack Brigade in the Social Hall. Please stay and help fill the backpacks.

Women’s Brunch Tickets

The Brunch with Sheri Rose Shepherd at Agoura Bible Fellowship is on Saturday, August 9th. There are five or six signed up to go—all tickets need to be purchased this Sunday for $20. See Lori.

Pins and Needles

We are currently making “Prayer Shawls” to give to patients. We have patterns available for knitting or crocheting. Anyone interested is welcome… our next meeting is on Thursday, August 21st.

Pathfinders:

It’s hard to believe that summer is almost over. But there’s still some fun happening!

Angeles Crest Christian Camp (ACCC) Junior Summer Camp is August 10th – 15th . We are meeting at CCH at 3 p.m. on Sunday, August 10th to drive up to camp and will be returning Friday afternoon. DO NOT FORGET: your medical release form, Bible, a jacket and spending money. The boys are going to have a great time!

Youth :

I’m sure most of you have heard by now that the Youth Group has a new Playstation 2 system and Rock Band! When we start our Youth Group meetings after Fall Kick-off, we will have a Rock Band Competition/Party at the first meeting back . So start practicing.

Sunday, August 3rd the Youth group is leaving for Angeles Crest Christian Camp ! We are meeting at CCH at 3 p.m. to drive up to camp and will be returning Friday afternoon. DO NOT FORGET: your medical release form, Bible, a jacket and spending money. It is going to be an amazing week!

Kids/Youth Combined:

Sunday, August 17th is the End of Summer Kids/Youth Beach Trip. We will be leaving after the church service at 11:30 a.m. We will grab some lunch and then head over to Zuma Beach to enjoy the last part of summer before school begins. Parents are more than welcome to join us. I will need one or two drivers. Please let me know if you will join us.

Young Adult:

The Young Adult group will meet the last Saturday of each month. The August meeting will be Saturday, August 30th. More details to follow. Check your e-mail for your e-vite with all the info. Plan on being there! (The date is wrong in the bulletin this week… the 30th is right).

Prayer Chain

Sadly John H ’s dad passed away late Wednesday evening, July 30th. Keep John, Debbie and the girls in your prayers.

John K passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 31st. Please keep Thais and the family in your prayers.

Dick H— Undergoing tests, pray for good results.

Chuck G’s-- prostate surgery is scheduled for Aug. 8.
